Today, I want to feature one of downtown Peoria’s most charming highlights: the Warehouse District. Anyone who has had the opportunity to experience Peoria’s Warehouse District could agree that it is one of the things that makes Peoria a unique and enchanting city. The Peoria Warehouse District represents the industrial past that has made this city what it is today.
Many of the most iconic buildings in Peoria to this day are located in the warehouse district, giving a nod to its rich heritage. It is located in the southwest of downtown Peoria, and its access to the Illinois River originally led to its rise as a significant industrial and shipping center in the 19th century. Many of the buildings in the warehouse district are now being revitalized and repurposed in the 21st century, after discontinuing their original use for some time. With original brick exteriors and many other amazing original features, these once utilitarian spaces are now being transformed into craft breweries, art studios, residential lofts, retail spaces, and much more!! And I am so excited to see it!
There are so many amazing shops and restaurants to try in the warehouse district:
- Blackband Distillery.
- Thyme Kitchen.
- Zion Coffee Bar.
- Casa de Arte.
- Rhodell Brewery.
- Pop Up Chicken.
- Sugar Wood-Fired Bistro.
And many more!! To find other shops, hotels, venues, and things to do in the Peoria Warehouse District, feel free to peruse this website: https://www.visitdowntownpeoria.com/warehouse-district

And although so much revitalization has already been done in the Peoria Warehouse District, this historical area continues to bring new life and energy to our city as plans are set into motion for creating more living spaces and walkability, enriching this downtown area even further. There are few things that make me more excited about the past, present, and future of this city than the Peoria Warehouse District.
