In these stressful times we are living in, it is very important to take time to rest, unplug from the web, and to invest in those around us. It’s also so important to invest in our bodies – to eat healthy, exercise, and listen when our bodies are telling us to rest. I hope all of you are spending this holiday with the ones who matter the most, and unplugging from the news and our phones for a time! To those who still work the front lines today – nurses, police officers, firefighters, and more, we appreciate you, and we are all so thankful for your service!
This weekend, Jeff and I are in Michigan with our daughter Kendra, who is back from Mexico for a couple weeks, our son and his wife and children, and our other daughter and her husband! It has been such a blessing. Getaways are important, and one of my favorite ways to unwind and relax. Another favorite activity Jeff and I enjoy that is both restful on the mind and active for the body, is bike riding. I strongly recommend it – especially if you are looking for some physical activity that you can do with someone else. Jeff and I bought our Trex bikes about three years ago, and they are well loved and used! Jeff also bought a carrier for our pickup, and we have loved loading up our bikes and exploring all the different trails in our surrounding community. A few weeks ago, we loaded up the bikes and checked out the Constitution Trail in Bloomington, which happens to be 37 miles long!
Other ways I take care of my body is starting my morning with an Isagenix breakfast shake mixed with several kinds of frozen berries and a banana, almond milk, and lots of spinach. Power Pak’s per day mixed into my water also give my body a boost – they are filled with lots of minerals with electrolyte Stamina and 1200 mg of vitamin C. These Power-Paks are non-GMO and gluten-free, contain lots of B vitamins and antioxidants, and only have 3 grams of sugar. It’s a great way to get energy without having so much caffeine like coffee – although coffee is hard to resist, I’ll admit! Getting plenty of rest and drinking lots of water is so important for me as well, and I can always tell when I need more of these two things.
What are some ways you relax? What are some ways you take care of your body? If you have new ideas for Jeff and I, we are always up for trying new things! Have a blessed week!
