So many of my wonderful clients have such a talent for remodeling. When Jeff and I were younger, we did not remodel like the young couples, singles, and families today. I think it is such a blessing, and so awesome to see how each home becomes unique to the occupants!
JT and Alyssa just celebrated their 4th anniversary in their home on Bulldog in Delavan, IL. They also just had a new baby girl named Madelyn Jane! I was honored to walk alongside them 4 years ago when they “unlocked new doors” in this lovely home, and I had to stop by and see their new, beautiful, little girl. While I was there two weeks ago, they showed me all the updates they had done to their home. Alyssa is super creative and has an amazing vision; JT has so much talent when it comes to remodeling and woodworking, and it was great to see what these two had accomplished together. Below are the after photos – they did all the work themselves!
JT reconfigured the upper cabinets in the kitchen and added a few more, along with the vent above the stove. He tiled the backsplash, added a new counter top, painted the top cabinets white and the bottom a grey color, added new hardware and new lighting above the breakfast bar. Alyssa wanted a little desk area in the kitchen, and JT made it happen. There is now some awesome pantry storage, a wonderful coffee bar for those early mornings. They made awesome use of dead space by adding the coffee bar.
To add more storage space, they put in a cabinet and some shelves above the washing machine and dryer. In the hallway, Alyssa wanted some family photos so JT made all of the white frames! I thought it was so neat and special! Going into the dining room, they added the wainscoting and the built-ins along the back wall with glass shelving and cabinets. New trim has been put up around the house, and JT is planning on building his own trim masterpiece for all the door-frames – I can not wait to see!
Since I visited them around Valentine’s Day, Alyssa still had her decorations up and I was so impressed with her artistic skills – she made the Happy Valentines Day artwork! JT made the foyer table piece himself with intricate detail. They truly are a very talented couple.
In the new nursery for Madelyn, I learned that he had also built the baby crib! It is so sweet! The crib will even grow with the baby and become a single bed frame eventually. When they showed me the basement that they are currently still finishing, I just knew this house will have lots of memories made in it. They are adding a kitchenette, new trim, painting the walls, and they have already laid new ceramic tile flooring. The bathroom pictures above, are pictures of the basement bathroom – with three different sizes of subway tile, built-in shelves in the shower to hold soap and more, a new vanity, and new flooring as well. I asked them about their choice of paint colors – Passive Gray and Slate Tile were a few. Their goal is to get each room completely finished before they start any new projects – they have amazing motivation and drive!
Thanks so much for letting me stop in and see your new little bundle of joy, JT and Alyssa! I wish you nothing but the best – and many blessed memories with your new daughter in this home.
