As a realtor, I can’t stress enough how important it is to freshen up your home before putting it on the Market. Many times, this will determine your house selling in a few days, verse a few months. One of the most important things in my opinion? Painting!
A fresh coat of paint can go a LONG ways. This is not an understatement. First impressions matter, and although the buyer could, and probably will, paint the room again what color they want, a fresh coat of paint, and clearing the room of clutter, can help the buyer envision themselves in the space. Neutral soft tones are the best for this – they appear clean, can make the room appear more open, and are not loud and screaming at the buyer.
Second, most buyers do not WANT to paint again when they move in. This is why a fresh coat of paint can appeal to them as well. If the room looks nice and updated, this is a huge selling point to many.
Third, when it comes to selling a house, good photography is key. And good photography can also be determined by the color of the room! Light, bright, neutral colors, completely brighten up photos, and make the rooms look super inviting online! This is very important.
So where do you begin? Stop at Sherwin-Williams of course! They have great consultants that will help you out if you are unsure what colors to choose. If you want my opinion, stay away from dark colors, unique colors like orange or red, and white. A warm, light gray is a great color to choose, as well as a light cream! The next step? Paint! Make it fun and have a painting party, or turn on an audible book or a podcast. Painting can be very relaxing, if you allow it! And if you are like some of my other clients, selling a home can be a stressful thing. I hope you can find some peaceful, quiet time, painting.
