A trip to the pumpkin patch is the best Fall experience. There’s nothing quite like walking through rows and rows of pumpkins, in search of the perfect one. Whether you’re looking for a pumpkin to carve, to set on your porch for decoration, or simply to have a fun Fall outing, I’ve pulled together some of my favorite local pumpkin patches to visit this season!
- Roth Pumpkin Patch. This pumpkin patch, located in Morton, has it all! From pumpkins and mums to petting zoos and playgrounds, the whole family will thoroughly enjoy a visit here. Don’t skip their cider slushie. Yum!
- Ackerman Family Farms. On top of their pumpkin and squash selection, this family farm offers a corn maze as well – another uniquely fall experience. With a variety of farm animals, haystack rides, and a gift shop to peruse, this Morton farm is the perfect place to spend a fall afternoon.
- Zaiser Pumpkin Farm. If you’re looking to support a local family farm with a huge variety of pumpkin and gourd options, this is your place! Whether you’re looking for pumpkins to eat, to decorate with, mini pumpkins, or a pick-your-own pumpkin experience, Zaiser Pumpkin Farm in Washington is ready to meet your needs!
- Christ Apple Orchard. This orchard located near Elmwood, Illinois, has been committed to growing high-quality farm fresh items since 1977. The orchard includes apples, pumpkins, apple cider, squirrel corn, squash, gourds, Indian corn, mums, straw bales, corn stalks, fruit butters and preserves, soy candles and much more.
- Tanners Orchard. Of course, Tanners Orchard deserves a place on the list. With four generations of offering a fantastic fall experience, it’s hardly fall if you don’t make a visit there once! Not only do they grow pumpkins, but they have a huge orchard and acres of other amazing fruits and vegetables as well. They also put on festivals, have so many mouthwatering baked goods in their “Apple Bin Bakery,” and even have unicorns in their petting zoo!
As you can see, we are spoiled to have so many amazing pumpkin patches in our area! And this list is definitely not conclusive – I’d love to know your favorite local patches too!
