When my clients, Mark and Laura, saw the setting of this home, they knew this is where they wanted to be. With a large, wooded backyard, the location offered such a calm and peaceful atmosphere that was so inviting! Mark and Laura were always looking for a place in Hyde Park, so this home checked several key boxes for them. I find it so exciting to work with clients who are visionary, as they unlock new doors with dreams and ideas of how to customize it and make it their own. I knew I had to stop back in and visit this family and see how they remodeled their new home to make it their very own! The exterior AND interior of this home has been completely transformed by Mark and Laura, and it has been such an amazing privilege to play a role in their home-buying and remodeling journey.
BEFORE
First they opened everything up and created a spacious and open floor plan. Many walls had to go and many studs were exposed! They then raised the ceiling – changing the 8 foot ceilings to vaulted ceilings was amazing in transforming the space of their main floor!
Their walls are a pure base white with no color added, and the gray trim is called “Stonington Gray” by Benjamin Moore. These colors provide a clean, minimal, and modern base for the home, allowing Mark and Laura’s style to be on full display through touches like their statement chandelier and beautiful sliding doors in the living room.
Outside they transformed brick color to be a lovely white, changed the pillars, repainted the trim, and redid the landscaping – truly a transformation inside and out!
AFTER
Mark and Laura worked with Danny Springer from Springer Construction in Morton, IL, as their general contractor. Steph Foor did the design work and helped bring Mark and Laura’s vision for their home to life. Creative Kitchens & Baths in Bloomington installed the kitchen, including the cabinets and quartz countertops. There are so many amazing contractors and businesses in our local area, and it is wonderful to see them work together to create beautiful homes like this one.
Thank you, Mark and Laura, for allowing me to play a role in you opening these new doors. I am truly blown away by your transformation of this home, and I know your family will make many wonderful, blessed memories here.
