I hope you all had a restful and wonderful Easter weekend!
Today, I am thrilled to share a kitchen remodel with you! I was able to walk through the process of buying this home with Steve and Gina, and it has been such a joy to see them transform the space, one detail at a time.
BEFORE
Although the overall layout of the kitchen is still the same, it seems like a totally different space after all the changes that were made! The existing appliance garages were removed, creating more counterspace and a more open feel in general. They were also able to make the bar stool area wider by extending one cabinet and installing wider countertops. By using Wood Front Kitchens with Prairie Home Alliance, only the fronts of the cabinets were replaced, and then the bases were painted to match the new cabinet faces. This is such a great and economical way to give your entire kitchen a facelift, without having to totally gut it!
AFTER
The walls in the kitchen were painted with “Analytical Gray” by Sherwin Williams, so Steve and Gina decided to paint the lower cabinets “Studio Clay,” a color just a few shades darker on the same color wheel. Choosing colors that complement each other can be such a challenge, so sticking with one color wheel can be a great way to avoid picking colors that clash. They also chose to do tile that closely matched the color of the grout, bringing in a warmth as well to the space!
They opted for quartz countertops, since they were looking for a brighter and lighter pattern. I love the way the countertops pull the look of the entire kitchen together!
I’m so happy for the Driscoll’s and their lovely new space! I am always so impressed by the way my clients customize their homes – it’s just another reason I love helping them “unlock new doors”!
