I swung by to say hi to Cameron and Shelby, a young couple who went from being acquaintances of mine, to friends. I walked alongside them as they “unlocked new doors” over a year ago (wow, time flies!) and I loved seeing the work they have done to their new home!
Cameron and Shelby had a rollercoaster of a buying experience! I was honored to walk alongside them, especially as I was able to help them through a short-sale, and other unexpected situations that occurred. Since they had the keys in hand, however, they have started painting, remodeling, and making this lovely house their home.
Cameron does an amazing job with carpentry, and Shelby has a great eye for design! Together they painted the kitchen cabinets white – they were very meticulous and did several steps to give them the best finish possible. They also hung new lights and Cameron and his dad even built their kitchen table. They also painted their kitchen walls a light gray, completely changing the entire look! They then took the same gray paint throughout most of their home, making it feel more open, bright, and cohesive. One of the biggest steps was redoing all of their trim – it was pretty beat up by the previous owner. Shelby’s Dad worked on it, and the end result looks amazing!
In the dining room, Shelby acquired their furniture, rugs, and decor from Floral Designs, where she works, and from Louisa Jane, where her mother-in-law and Aunt work! Shelby also bought several of her furniture pieces off Facebook Marketplace – still in excellent condition. I love the entire look – I wanted to take their bookcases home with me! Shelby painted a fun pattern in her half bath with just a sponge, and Cameron is planning on putting up Shiplap in their basement to make a fun hangout room. He also plans to build a bar down there as well.
The two of them have done such an amazing job updating their home and I was so excited to see their process! I know these two will make many wonderful memories here. I am honored to call them friends, and to have gotten a front row seat to their first home-buying experience!
