Today, I am thrilled to share with you an amazing, transformative remodel by some clients of mine! If you were to walk through this home before closing, and then after these changes had been made, you would agree with me that it is almost unrecognizable as the same space. Sam and Whitney did an amazing job of visualizing all of the potential within the walls of this home and then putting the work in to bring that vision to life!
DURING THE REMODEL

The work on this home actually began before we even officially closed. Koch Konstruction replaced the roof, and new geothermal was installed by Hinrichsen Heating & Air Conditioning – all before the official closing day. The kitchen did not have a dishwasher (or a microwave), so the first thing that Sam and Whitney did after the closing table was to get a dishwasher installed.
Before they moved in, Sam and Whitney knew that new flooring was a must, and they also wanted to get as much painting out of the way as possible. Sam painted all of the doors, doorframes, baseboards and fireplace as well as the three bedrooms and two of the bathrooms. The main living space was painted City Loft, the bathroom was painted Sea Salt, the wood work was painted Extra White, the office was painted Evergreen Fog, and two other rooms were painted Elephant Ear. Dave Zeller’s team painted the living room, hallways, kitchen/dining area, the playroom, and the office. Along with painting the walls, the ceilings had to be painted too, which required four coats to cover up smoke stains from the previous owners.
Sam and Whitney both agree that the flooring was the biggest project to undertake. Sam and a few family members removed the carpet themselves, which was in rough shape with an odor to match. Thankfully the subfloor below was still good, so that didn’t need to be replaced – just needing a little TLC from KILZ treatment in a few places. Linda Martin at Carpet Weaver was a tremendous help picking out the new flooring, and after carpet was installed in the bedrooms and office, Sam and Whitney officially moved in! Unfortunately, the LVP (sourced by Lions Floor Indoor Delight Shoreline Décor) was back ordered, so Sam and Whitney spent about 6 weeks in their new house without flooring on the majority of their main floor. It was a challenge to navigate that while living with a toddler and a large dog, but the weeks flew by, and now they are so happy with their flooring choice!
Initially, Sam and Whitney weren’t planning to update the kitchen for a while, but since the house was already a construction zone through the summer, they decided to tackle it all at once. Thankfully the original cabinets just needed some fresh paint. Dave and his team painted them Dovetail and installed a new sink and new cabinet hardware. Dave also helped with installing the new appliances and the contract work for the backsplash. The backsplash tile was sourced from Knapp Tile & Flooring and they did a wonderful job! The quartz countertop was from Lowe’s, and was a floor model on display that both Sam and Whitney immediately fell in love with.
AFTER

And just a short testimonial from the couple themselves:
“Every person we worked with on the project were recommended by you, {Sue} and they were all wonderful to work with! We honestly cannot thank you enough. You go above and beyond for your clients and we’re so thankful to have met you and worked with you!!”
Thank you so much, Sam and Whitney, for allowing me to play a role in your family “unlocking new doors” in this wonderful home. It has truly been a pleasure to walk through this process with you, to see your home come to life as you add your own touch, and to see you now thriving there as a family. I wish you many happy memories within these walls!
