If you are contemplating a move to the Peoria area, you have come to the right place! I am a firm believer that Peoria is a wonderful place to build a life, and would love to share some of the biggest reasons why I feel that way. In many ways, Peoria provides all the best aspects of city-living, while cutting out the less-than-ideal elements that often come with them. Let’s dig into why this is the case!
- Perfectly sized. If you enjoy the perks of the city lifestyle, but could do without the
traffic and inconveniences that come with major city centers, then you will love Peoria
as much as I do. We have all the joys of city living at our disposal: artisan coffee shops,
farmers markets, amazing restaurants, community events, and a walkable downtown
area, but don’t have to deal with the traffic congestion and fast-moving pace you often
encounter in bigger cities. - Prime housing. The housing in the Peoria area is another strength it offers, as it is
affordable and gives you a great “bang for your buck,” so to speak. In fact, housing in
Peoria is said to be 22.9% less expensive than the national average. Plus, the cost of
living in general is much more affordable than you would find in larger cities, while still
being big enough to have everything you need at your fingertips. - Rich resources. Another huge reason to love the Peoria area is the fact that we have a
local airport with a vast array of flight options (and free parking)! This makes it an even
more appealing place to settle down for those who find themselves traveling for work or
for pleasure regularly. Another amazing resource here in Peoria is our highly advanced
medical community. We are fortunate to be well covered in this area, and to have
specialized and excellent care options that are easily accessible. - Convenient location. A short commute time to access anywhere in the city makes
Peoria an even more attractive place to put down your roots. And it takes only 2 ½
hours to travel to both Chicago and St. Louis if you are looking for a day trip to a larger
city. You can’t beat that! - Charm! On top of all of these reasons, one of the best things Peoria has to offer truly is
its charm. Not only does the downtown area hold a uniquely charming midwestern
culture, but it has so much to offer for nature-lovers as well. With its own network of
park districts and trails (in fact, it is one of the oldest park districts in Illinois), it offers
great seasonal changes and beautiful river views all throughout the year. Not just any
city can compete with that!
I am sure that everyone living in Peoria could add their own list of perks and benefits to this list, as there are just so many reasons to love this amazing area!
