Two dear friends and clients of mine, Doug and Jill, recently remodeled their home on Polk St. and they did it all themselves!! Doug is quite the handyman, and together these two made many design choices. The end result is stunning!
These two started by ripping out a wall and some closets in the 4th bedroom in the back of the house, and converting the room into a family room with access to the back patio! Not an easy task. Doug and Jill then repainted all of the windows and window trim white, so the white trim is consistent throughout the house. They put in new 1 X 4s for the base trim. Next up was the living room and kitchen.
Before
After remodeling these two rooms, their projects are complete and the house looks fresh and updated! They choose a white trim and wall paint in the kitchen – a basic white Pittsburgh Paint from Miller Paint. Instantly the room was a lot more welcoming and brighter. In the living room, they choose a Pittsburg Paint called Whiskers, a light gray color, for the walls. I love the easy transition from white to light gray that this provides these two rooms, all the while keeping the light, fresh look – just by paint colors!
Doug put down new Mohawk laminate flooring, and they choose Klearvue Cabinets from Menards in a Painted Shaker style with a Gray finish. Doug purchased new High Res Formica countertops from Menards as well, and installed them himself! Lastly, this couple (basically the next Chip and Joanna) purchased subway tile from Lowe’s and tackled the tiling themselves – I was able to witness this process first-hand!
After
Doug and Jill are an amazing couple with a big heart for people! They are involved in many different organizations and groups, and I know their home will have lots of foot traffic in and out. I am so excited for how these two have made this house their home and I pray they are blessed by all the ways they bless others.
Thanks so much for showing me around your remodel, friends! You two have such a great eye for design, and your home is beautiful.
